Meet UCHS Football Head Coach Ryan Price


In 2013, Coach Ryan Price joined the UCHS Football Staff and spent two seasons as the Varsity Co-Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Line Coach, and Tight Ends Coach. In 2015, Coach Price was selected as the new Head Football Coach and went on to lead UCHS Football to a 6–1 start and the #2 seed in Division IV Playoffs, finishing with the Centurions' first appearance in the CIF Semifinals and best record in 23 years at 9–3. Due to the accomplishments of the team and coaching staff, Coach Price was selected as KUSI Prep Pigskin Report – San Diego Chargers Coach of the Week. Coach Price and UCHS Football were also selected as 1 of 4 teams in San Diego County to be recognized by Super Bowl Champion Coach Jon Gruden and his FFCA program, receiving a meritorious donation by Dick's Sporting Goods.

In 2017, Coach Price led the Centurions to an undefeated City League title and the #1 seed in Division IV playoffs, finishing with a second trip to the CIF Semifinals and the best record in school history at 10–2. Most recently in 2018, after being moved up to the Eastern League and Division III due to the program's continued success, Coach Price led the Centurions to their first appearance in the Division III playoffs, with a win against El Capitan in the first round and Quarterfinals matchup against #1 seed Christian, where the Centurions were narrowly defeated, 42-41. At the end of the 2018 season, Coach Price had 6 Seniors in his 2019 graduating class receive offers to play football at the college level and hosted a National Signing Day Ceremony, culminating the continued growth of the football program at UCHS.

Coach Price is entering his fifth season as Head Football Coach at UCHS with a career record of 30-18; the best winning percentage in school history. In his first four seasons as Head Football Coach, UCHS players have been selected as First and Second Team ALL CIF, League Offensive Player of the Year, League Defensive Player of the Year, HSSA Scholar Athlete of the Year, Alex Spanos All Star, First and Second Team All League, CalHiSports All State Team, CalHiSports SoCal Player of the Week, KUSI PPR Student Athlete of the Week, San Diego Union~Tribune Athlete of the Week, Mighty 1090 Athlete of the Week, San Diego Union~Tribune Scholar Athlete, UCHS Male Athlete of the Year, and UCHS Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Coach Price takes pride in being a players' coach and has played a significant role in the development of student-athletes at UCHS. He has helped motivate and guide his players in their academic achievements and success on the football field. Coach Price's philosophy is to build a successful football program by developing his football players as students and athletes, but most importantly, molding them into exceptional young people through leadership, accountability, positive reinforcement, and service for others.
